The alpine winter is not one season but a sequence: openings, holidays, the deep months and the long spring lunches. This is how the great resorts run their year, and how Danao Group runs the season’s logistics beneath them.
Late November: The Openings
Courchevel traditionally opens the calendar among the great names, lifts turning while the crowds are still weeks away. Courchevel service and altiport arrivals begin the season here.
December: The Build to the Holidays
St. Moritz and Gstaad wake through early December, and by the third week every chalet with a view has a household in it. The holiday fortnight books chefs, Samedan slots and cars months ahead; the wise confirm by October.
January: The Deep Season
The crowds recede, the snow arrives properly, and the connoisseur’s month begins. Verbier skis its best; Zermatt rewards those who accept its car-free arithmetic; Jackson Hole answers from the Rockies.
February: The Peak
Half-terms fill every resort at once and the season peaks. Kitzbuhel’s Hahnenkamm weekend concentrates the sport’s bravest week, White Turf races on St. Moritz’s frozen lake, chalet tables at 1850 seat their most demanding fortnight, and ground logistics decide whether the week feels effortless or endured.
March: The Connoisseur’s Spring
Longer days, softer light, and Aspen’s finest stretch. Aspen runs strong to the closing weekend while Europe’s south faces turn to spring skiing and lunch becomes the day’s main event.
April: The Long Goodbye
Zermatt and Verbier ski latest among the great names, glacier lines holding while the valleys green. The chalet table gets the last word.
The Southern Answer
When the Alps close, the calendar flips oceans rather than ending: Australia’s winter runs June to September, and the Danao Calendar carries the year’s full sequence.
One Desk for the Whole Winter
Chalets, chefs, winter-equipped cars, altiport slots and the school-holiday scramble: the season rewards one accountable desk. Speak to the concierge before the October rush, or read the private jet airports guide for the mountain fields themselves.
